We have a passion for the natural world and are really keen on citizen science.  Understanding the biology of the natural world and its protection is crucial to the future of all of us.  We are keen for all citizens scientists to send us samples, for example, for species ID. 

Our launch of fungal ID has resulted in some very interesting specimens and the identification of some new species and species that should not be here in the UK  ! I guess we only get the really diffiucult ones which have defied traditional mycology) but then, that’s good !   It is a new tool to add to the mix !

We are also working with partners on conservation projects (because it interests us) and will be making a “batty” announcement very soon, we hope. 

Chxout also has a long history with falconry and we are arguably one of the leaders in the application of DNA technology to the field, whether this is bird sexing or more recently peregrine parentage for breeding programmes.  We have a very exciting research project coming here too !
